Events, film screenings, and concerts will be held throughout the year, including a commemoration of Martin Luther King's A Time to Break Silence speech, James Baldwin's birth month, W.E.B. Du Bois, Baldwin's solidarity with anti-colonial movements, and the Afro-Asiatic reconstitution.
February 17thInaugurating the Year of James Baldwin: God's Revolutionary VoiceThe official launch of the Year of James Baldwin, a yearlong celebration in Philadelphia of the 100th birth anniversary of American essayist, novelist, playwright, poet, and revolutionary James Baldwin. The event will feature speakers, documentary footage, and intercivilizational cultural performance.

American's Revolutionary Future and Martin Luther King Jr.'s Vision for Peace
Commemorating Martin Luther King's Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence speech he gave on April 4, 1967 and James Baldwin's same revolutionary vision and voice for peace. April 4th will feature a screening of King's speech followed by a roundtable conversation. April 6th will feature Baldwin's voice for peace, followed by a roundtable discussion about America's future, as well as an intercivilizational cultural performances.
